Spend more time online for less: Sky Muster Plus plans bring a big jump in value

Why choose Sky Muster Plus?

Sky Muster Plus was introduced a few years back as an enhancement to the original Sky Muster service. Among other benefits, Sky Muster Plus is capable of differentiating between various kinds of internet traffic. Knowing the types of online tasks customers perform has led to Sky Muster Plus significantly increasing the value of Satellite NBN for rural customers.

All of the Activ8me Sky Muster Plus plans benefit from a range of enhancements over standard Sky Muster plans including:

• Unmetered Content: most of your time on the internet won’t count against your download limits. Activities like internet browsing, checking your email, updating your operating system, browsing social media and listening to music and podcasts.

In fact, the key activities that will use data are video streaming (Netflix, YouTube, etc) and using a virtual private network (VPN) when you access the web. When you use up your monthly data allowance, your internet speeds are speed limited under the beginning of your billing cycle.

• Unshaped Network Traffic: Even if you’ve used up all of your included data for the month, you will still be able to access unmetered content at your standard connection speed.

• Burst Speeds: Under certain conditions, you may receive a speed boost above the 25Mbps download speed available on Sky Muster Plus plans. In trials, some Satellite NBN connections achieved speeds of around 50Mbps, or twice as fast as a standard connection.

The combination of these enhancements mean that Sky Muster Plus customers may be able to save some money by choosing a cheaper plan option and taking advantage of the unmetered data included in the service. 

According to estimates from Sky Muster Plus trials, nbn® has previously stated that about a third of all downloads on the Satellite network is defined as unmetered. Customers who don’t stream TV or movies and don’t download video games should find that unmetered data covers most of the things they do online each day.
