NBN internet provider More wants to make sure you can get reliable, fast internet anywhere in your home, with steep discounts on the latest Google WiFi mesh network, and a massive 30% saving on your monthly bill for Commbank customers.
Google WiFi is easily one of our favourite mesh WiFi systems, but it can be expensive. For example, Google charge $549 for the 3-pack of devices, and $399 for a 2-pack, including a base router and one WiFi extender.
Happily, More NBN customers can get the same WiFi packs for less, with the 3-pack priced at just $399 — a saving of $150. Smaller homes will save $100 on the 2-pack of routers, which costs just $299.
These discounts are on top of More’s already excellent NBN plan prices, with no lock in contracts, no upfront fees, and 7 day technical support. Commbank customers need to click on the green deal text in the table below to see the special discounted prices available on each plan.
Google WiFi: how Mesh gives you more
More’s move to offer Google’s mesh WiFi routers, rather than a standard WiFi router, is a masterstroke. The more we use the internet in our homes, the places in our homes we find we need coverage.
Mesh WiFi is the sort of technology we geek-out about here at WhistleOut. It works by combining the signals from each of the devices into a single WiFi network. As you move around your house, the routers are smart enough to seamlessly switch your device, like your phone, from one router to another.
Google WiFi comes in packs of 1, 2 or 3 routers, where a medium-sized home will need the 2-pack, and large homes will benefit from having 3 routers in the network.
To set them up, you connect the base router to your modem, and then position the WiFi extenders in other rooms where these will overlap with the signal from the base.
The cool thing about Google WiFi is that each of the WiFi extenders also double as Google Home points, so you can use them to ask questions and control other smart home devices. And the WiFi extenders also have built-in speakers so you can play music
