At this evening’s Foxtel Upfront event, the Pay TV giant’s CEO, Patrick Delany, reinforced his support for the company’s streaming brands Kayo and Binge in the wake of the DAZN acquisition. While Binge is set to release its first batch of commissioned originals, Kayo has secured new partnerships in sports and renewed major streaming agreements.
International and domestic golf tournaments will remain on Kayo, in addition to new partnerships with The Open Championship, the DP World Tour (formerly the PGA European Tour), the PGA Tour of Australasia, and the WGPA (the Women’s Professional Golfers’ Association).
A new multi-year agreement with Supercars will also keep Championship races live on Kayo. Motorsports fans are eating well on Kayo. In addition to the renewed Supercars agreement, Kayo will also stream every single F1 race and every MotoGP World Championship race live.
Kayo has also locked down a comprehensive cricket line-up. Starting in October, Kayo will stream an eight-game white-ball series between Australia and India before The Ashes take place in November. Next year, Kayo will repeat the trick with a white-ball series between Australia and England, followed by a similar arrangement with New Zealand.
In 2026, Kayo will cover the Rugby League Las Vegas Festival ahead of the regular season, and NRL and AFL coverage and commentary will continue to be covered comprehensively, too.
Lastly, Kayo has locked down a renewed agreement with long-time partner ESPN. Local fans of international sports like the NBA, NFL, MLB, and NHL will continue to get their fix on Kayo for the foreseeable future.
Kayo AI Buddy and app improvements
Crediting the added support of DAZN’s global tech team, Foxtel promised a suite of improvements to the smart TV experience for Kayo customers in 2026, as well as a new AI assistant, Kayo Buddy. Available early next year, Kayo Buddy is said to offer “useful, real-time insights like fixture updates, player stats and sports highlights”.
Not much else was shared about Kayo Buddy, other than the fact that the technology would continue to develop over time, “with the goal of becoming the ultimate viewing companion for sports fans”. We can't wait to find out if it prefers VB or Tooheys New.
