Foxtel's new sports streaming service, Kayo, is offering new customers that sign up between now and February 4 their first month of access for just $5. Considering a Kayo subscription usually costs $25 per month, that's a pretty good deal.
Also known as Australia's 'Netflix of sports', Kayo content mirrors what's on offer from the Foxtel Sports pack. You can watch all the same games and sports docos, live and on demand. But Foxtel and its streaming service Foxtel Now require you to pick up a $25-$29 entertainment starter pack on top of sports, bringing your minimum monthly cost up to at least $54. Kayo subscriptions, by contrast, are stand-alone.
Kayo says it will boast 850 hours of sports content through the month of February and more than 30,000 hours of sports content over the course of the year. February programming highlights will include the Australia vs Sri Lanka Domain Second Test, the HSBC World Rugby Sevens series, the AFC Asia Cup, and the Super Bowl LIII: Los Angeles Rams vs New England Patriots.
Kayo subscriptions are contract-free which means if you do take up the offer, you'll get a month of access with no commitment. But if you do decide to quit Kayo after the cheapie month, you'll need to do it before February 28 at 12.01am. That's when Kayo says it will charge all deal customers the full price of $25 for the month of March.
It's also important to note that taking up the "Feb for a Fiver" deal does mean you miss out on Kayo's usual 7-day free trial period.
Kayo's "Feb for a Fiver" offer applies only to Kayo Basic subscriptions which allow you to watch on two screens simultaneously. If you want a Premium subscription which allows you to watch on three screens at once, you'll need to pay the standard $35 per month.
You can stream Kayo on your computer or mobile phone by downloading the Kayo app from the App Store or Google Play. You can also stream Kayo straight onto your TV with Apple TV, Google Chromecast or Telstra TV.
