Every new TV show and movie arriving on Disney Plus Australia in August 2025

After a fairly quiet July, August has shaped up to be a huge month for Disney Plus in Australia. Let's get the biggest releases out of the way first. Not only does Marvel's highly-anticipated animated series Eyes of Wakanda premiere Friday, August 1st, but later in the month, FX will bring the classic sci-fi horror series Alien to the small screen with Alien: Earth on Sunday, August 13th.

Alien: Earth is particularly exciting because it marries the beloved franchise with one of the most talented showrunners working in television, Noah Hawley. Most would know Hawley as the guy who turned the Coen Brothers' 1996 crime thriller Fargo into a long-running FX television series. Others may know him from his work on the wildly underappreciated Marvel TV show Legion (another FX production).

With the exception of his 2019 feature film Lucy in the Sky, Noah Hawley rarely misses, and if there's one thing you can guarantee, it's that this won't be a run-of-the-mill addition to the Alien universe.

The marketing for Alien: Earth has been mercifully vague so far. What we do know is that it follows a ragtag group of synthetic androids, humans, and even a synth hybrid— a human conscience transferred to a synthetic android body— who crash land their spaceship on Earth and come face-to-face with a "mysterious predatory life form".

The stacked cast features Sydney Chandler (Don't Worry Darling), Alex Lawther (), Timothy Olyphant (Deadwood) and Essie Davis (The Babadook). The series begins August 13 with a double-episode premiere, with new episodes released weekly on Sundays here in Australia.
