Australian pay TV giant Foxtel announced today that it will be merging apps for its two streaming services, Foxtel GO and Foxtel Now.
From tomorrow, users of the Foxtel Now mobile phone and tablet app on iOS and Android will be directed to download and log into the Foxtel GO app instead. Foxtel Now users watching the service through their Chrome or Safari browsers will be directed to watch at watch.foxtel.com.au.
Customers using the Foxtel Kids app will also be directed to Foxtel GO from tomorrow. Foxtel says the GO app features a dedicated kids' homepage including Parental Control options.
“By focussing on one app, we will also add more value for Foxtel Now customers by providing access to popular features and support from Foxtel GO that were previously unavailable on the Foxtel Now app," said Foxtel Chief Product and Strategy Officer, Alice Mascia. "These features include a preview screen to watch show trailers, an expanded Kids homepage and support for Android 10 and iOS 13, providing them with an even better mobile experience.”
As with the Foxtel Now app, the Foxtel GO app can be registered on multiple devices and watched on up to two screens simultaneously.
The Foxtel GO app and browser site is available to all Foxtel and Foxtel Now customers free of charge as part of their subscription. You can download the Foxtel GO app from Google Play or the App Store.
Foxtel Now subscribers using a Foxtel Now Box or Telstra TV should be unaffected by the changes.
