The 2026 FIFA World Cup officially kicked off in the early hours of the morning, with Mexico beating South Africa 2 - 0 on their home turf at Mexico City Stadium. For the first time in a long time, watching the FIFA World Cup live from Australia won't require pulling several all-nighters. That's thanks to the fact that the 2026 World Cup takes place across Canada, Mexico and the United States. In fact, the majority of matches take place between 6:00am and 4:30pm AEST.
If you missed this morning's match, you can catch the highlights on SBS Sport's YouTube channel. Keep reading for exactly how and when you can watch every FIFA World Cup match from Australia in 2026.
How can I live-stream the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Australia?
While those living in the United States will have to pay for FOX Sports to watch every FIFA World Cup match, here in Australia, our beloved SBS will air every single match for free, live and on demand via SBS On Demand.
Unlike the FIFA Club World Cup, which is found on Kayo and Foxtel these days, the FIFA World Cup is 100% free to stream on SBS On Demand. There isn't even any additional or premium coverage on services like Stan Sport.
You can watch the FIFA World Cup live on free-to-air SBS, but there are plenty of options to watch on SBS On Demand with an internet connection. You can watch SBS On Demand on the go with your iPhone, iPad, or Android device. At your desk or in bed on a laptop via most web browsers on a PC or Mac. Or, if you're after the big-screen experience, most smart TVs will offer the SBS On Demand app. It's completely free, but you will need to allow time to sign up with your email address and password, so don't leave until kick-off time to get your stream sorted.
