It’s been a huge year for Hollywood horror at the Box Office. So far, four horror movies have cracked the top 20 films of the year, including returning favourites like The Conjuring: Last Rites and Final Destination: Bloodlines and completely original films like Ryan Coogler’s Sinners and Zach Cregger’s Weapons.
This week it was announced that Weapons would be arriving on HBO Max on Friday October 24, joining Sinners and Final Destination: Bloodlines. Right in time for the spooky season.

How to watch Weapons in Australia
Weapons is already available as a premium digital purchase or rental via services like Apple TV and Amazon Prime but on Friday October 24, it will be added to the HBO Max streaming library in Australia.
HBO Max plans start at $11.99 per month for ad-supported HD streaming and can cost up to $21.99 per month if you want 4K ad-free streaming. There are also annual plans and alternative HBO Max deals to help reduce your monthly streaming costs.
Foxtel customers won’t need to look for a HBO Max deal because they already have it. Signing up to any Foxtel plan will get you free HBO Max Basic access for at least a year.
What is Weapons about?
The most notable plot points in Zach Cregger’s Weapons are best experienced fresh for the first time so we’ll keep this synopsis half-cocked.
Weapons begins after a mysterious tragedy has rocked the small town of Maybrook, Pennsylvania. One night, at precisely 2:17am, seventeen children from the same Year 3 class leave their house and go missing. Only one child from the class returns to school the next day.
Their troubled teacher, Justine Garvey (Julia Garner), draws suspicion from the local parents, including bereaved father Archer (Josh Brolin). Every chapter shows the same passage of time from different points of view, each revealing more about the malevolent force that has disrupted the peaceful small town.
If you’ve seen Cregger’s Barbarian, you don’t need to be told to expect the unexpected. But for those who were spooked by Weapons horrific trailer, I would suggest stomaching the courage for this one. It might not be quite as scary as you would think. In fact, at times it's downright hilarious.
