Over two years since the first season premiered, Seth MacFarlane's live-action series Ted is back on television. The raunchy prequel to MacFarlane's 2011 comedy of the same name has dropped all eight episodes of its second season on March 5 exclusively on NBC's Peacock in the US.
Even though Peacock isn't available in Australia, there's still a way to watch both seasons of Ted locally.
Where to watch Ted in Australia
Seasons 1 and 2 of Ted are streaming on Binge and Foxtel Now in Australia. Out of the two, Binge is your best option. Plans start at $10 per month, which gets you ad-supported HD streaming on two devices. Binge Standard lets you go ad-free with 4K streaming on two devices for $19 per month, and Binge Premium will get you 4K streaming on four devices for $22 per month. Each plan comes with a seven-day free trial.
Binge plans are already a little cheaper than the alternatives but there are a few ways you can trim the price down even further with offers like discounted annual plans.
Traditional Foxtel packages are a lot more expensive. Though they're often discounted, Foxtel plans range from $78 per month for the basic Foxtel Plus package, and can cost up to $150 per month for the all-inclusive Foxtel Platinum Plus plan. With that said, Foxtel plans do come with free access to HBO Max Basic (valued at $11.99 per month), and Platinum Plus also includes Netflix Standard (valued at $20.99 per month).
At the release of Ted Season 2, Seth McFarlane delivered the unfortunate news (via TheWrap) that there is "no plan" for Ted Season 3, citing the show's exorbitant production costs, most of which are spent on animating Ted. That's not to say there's no chance for it to return, but the finale for Season 2 was written with no follow-up in mind.

Set in the early 90s, the Ted TV show follows a young John Bennett (Mark Wahlberg's protagonist, now played by Max Burkholder) and his sentient teddy bear slash best friend, Ted (Seth MacFarlane). The series is mostly about John dealing with typical high school problems (socialising, dating, etc.), but with a weed-smoking, foul-mouthed teddy bear thrown in the mix.
What the TV show has going for it that the movies don't is John's family: his timid and kind-natured mother, Susan (Alanna Ubach), his paranoid Vietnam vet father, Matty (Scott Grimes) and his whip-smart, sarcastic cousin, Blaire (Giorgia Whigham). The family dynamic makes the Ted TV series feel a lot more like MacFarlane's animated sitcoms, Family Guy and American Dad, and is better off for it.
Creator: Seth MacFarlane | Cast: Max Burkholder, Seth MacFarlane, Alanna Ubach, Scott Grimes
Language: English | Rating: MA15+
