One of the most anticipated TV shows of 2026 is actually an adaptation of a 1991 movie starring Robert De Niro that was a remake of a 1962 movie starring Robert Mitchum, which itself was an adaptation of a 1957 novel, The Executioners.
That's right, the murderous Max Cady is setting sail on Cape Fear once again, this time portrayed by Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men) in a 10-part miniseries for Apple TV.
Here's exactly how and when you can catch the latest episodes of the Cape Fear TV series in Australia.
Where to watch the Cape Fear TV series in Australia
The new Cape Fear TV series is an Apple TV Original, and as such, it is available to stream exclusively through the Apple TV subscription service. Apple TV costs $15.99 per month as a standalone service and comes with a 7-day free trial.
It features 4K HDR streaming on up to six devices (via Apple Family Sharing) and is available on a wide variety of streaming devices, including Apple and Android smartphones and tablets, Google TV, Amazon Fire TV, PlayStation consoles, and major smart televisions like LG, Sony and most televisions running Android TV.
If you're looking to save on your monthly streaming bill, there are a few ways to get discounted Apple TV, like signing up for Apple One, an all-inclusive Apple subscription that gets you Apple TV, Apple Music, Apple Arcade, iCloud storage and more.
If you want to watch the 1991 and 1962 versions of Cape Fear, you'll find them both in the same place: Foxtel Now. Thankfully, Foxtel Now comes with a 10-day free trial, which is more than enough time to stream both versions. Here's how much Foxtel Now costs:
Cape Fear premiered on Friday, June 5 with a double-episode release. New episodes will be released weekly every Friday until the tenth and final episode airs July 31.

When unrepentant criminal Max Cady (Bardem) is released from prison, he makes it his mission to cause mischief for the lawyers who failed to keep him out of prison 17 years earlier. Anna and Tom Bowden (Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson) become increasingly paranoid, and rightfully so, as Cady begins to show up in their everyday lives.
If you've seen the original movies, you'll already know what is driving Cady's obsession with the Bowdens and their children, but whether that will play out the same in Nick Antosca's television adaptation is yet to be seen. If the series shares any DNA with Antosca's breakout horror hit, Brand New Cherry Flavor, we should be in for a weird ride.
