How (and when) to watch Alien: Earth in Australia

Say what you will about the current streaming landscape, but one thing is for sure: fans of the Alien and Predator franchises have been eating well these last few years. The latest entry to the Weyland-Yutani universe, Alien: Earth, is the series’ first foray to the small screen. 

As an FX and Hulu original, this eight-episode sci-fi series will be streaming exclusively on Disney Plus here in Australia, starting Wednesday, August 13, with a two-episode premiere.

How to watch Alien: Earth in Australia

Like this year's Predator: Killer of Killers, Alien: Earth is exclusive to Disney Plus subscribers in Australia. In fact, for the foreseeable future, at least, Disney Plus will be the sole destination for streaming Alien: Earth. It's not going to arrive on any other streaming service, but Disney Plus Originals don’t even end up on digital storefronts like Apple TV or Google Play. 

Disney Plus plans start at $15.99 per month, paid monthly, or $159.99 per month, paid yearly. 

If you want to stream Alien: Earth in 4K, you'll have to pay for Disney Plus Premium, which costs $20.99 per month or $209.99 per year. Unlike other streaming services, Disney Plus doesn’t offer a free trial but you can still find a way to avoid paying full price with a timely deal.

While not officially confirmed, a second season of Alien: Earth is reportedly already in production and being filmed in Bangkok, Thailand, where much of the first season was shot.

What is Alien: Earth about?

TV hitmaker Noah Hawley (Fargo) is bringing the universally-beloved Alien franchise down to Earth. A sequel set two years prior to Ridley Scott’s 1979 original film, Alien: Earth, follows a ragtag outfit of soldiers, androids and a human-synthetic hybrid who come face to face with an intergalactic threat when a spaceship crash-lands on Earth.
