
There are few things worse than when you finally getting settled in to watch a movie at the end of a long day and getting slammed with an error code.
So to save you furiously Googling and scouring help pages, we’ve compiled all of Stan's error codes in one place, what they mean and how to fix them.
Stan error code 1
This is one of the more common codes experienced on Stan.
Stan error code 1 indicates your internet connection is lost or weak.
If you want to get the most out of a Stan subscription, you'll need an internet plan with enough speed for interruption-free viewing.
The majority of internet plans come with unlimited data so you don't need to worry about capacity. It's more a matter of speed, which is a resourced shared across the devices in your home.
We recommend signing up for a least an NBN 50 plan for households of between 2-4 people. Up to 50Mbps is more than enough bandwidth for different members of the household to be streaming on their own devices at the same time.

Stan error codes A9 to A35
Stan error codes starting with A refer to video playback issues. Your first point of call should be to restart the app, clear your cache and check your internet connection. If these don’t fix the problem then we will provider further troubleshooting where possible.

Fix error code A9
Stan error code A9 will require a system reboot. If restarting the app, clearing your cache, and checking your internet connection and speed didn't work then there are still ways to fix this error. Below is how to fix the issue on your chosen device:
Media Streaming Devices:
- Powercycle your device and router or modem
Mobile and Tablets
- Reboot your mobile device and modem or router
- Uninstall and reinstall the Stan app

Fix error code A10
To clear Stan error code A10, you will need to stop playing on other devices or upgrade your Stan subscription in order to watch.
If you cannot understand why this error code has been served to you, try logging out of all accounts and resetting your password, just in case you logged into someone else's device and never logged out for example, a hotel room.
Fix error code A17
The fix depends on what device you're streaming from. Try one or all of these methods until the error code clears:
For TVs and Media Streaming Devices:
- Powercycle your TV and modem or router
- Clear the Stan app cache (click on your Profile, go to About, select Clear Stan Application Storage, click Confirm and Log Out
- Uninstall and reinstall the Stan App
- Try streaming in Safe Mode
For Android and iOS Mobile Devices:
- Restart your mobile device
- Uninstall and reinstall the Stan app
- Try streaming in Safe Mode
If you are trying to connect to a TV via HDMI, Stan does not support this method and is likely why you're receiving this error code A17.

Fix error code A18
DRM (or Digital Rights Management) issues are usually resolved by restarting the app, clearing your cache, and checking your internet connection and speed. If this doesn't work here are some fixes for various streaming device types:
Google TVs and Streaming Devices

- Soft reboot your Android TV
- Try streaming in Safe Mode
Android Mobiles and Tablets
- Clear Stan app cache
- Restart your Android mobile or tablet

Fix error code A19
You should be able to fix error code A19 by the following methods for various streaming devices:

- Reboot your mobile device

Fix error code A20
You should be able to fix error code A20 by restarting your device, or updating your firmware. Here are some steps for fixing these based on various streaming devices:

Fix error code A24
For network or browsing cache issues which cause this error code, simply clear your web browser cache, powercycle your computer and modem or router and check your internet connection speed.

Fix error code A25
Stan error code A25 occurs when an unsupported device is being used or a caching issue is occurring. A common instance is during Stan Sport replay. Some devices may not support livestreaming, thus prompting this error code.

Fix error code A26
If you are seeing this error it means you may be attempting to stream from outside of the country or a VPN may be blocking you from watching. Stan is only available within Australia, ensure any VPNs you may be using are from within the country.
If you are in Australia yet still receiving this message, clearing your cache should fix the problem.
Fix error code A27
You're likely to receive this error code if you are streaming Stan via HDMI or you're experiencing limitations with HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection).
If you know your cables are compliant, try restarting your device and ensure all cables are securely plugged in. Otherwise powercycle your TV and modem or router just to be sure.
If the error continues, your HDMI cable may not be HDCP compliant. You may need to check with the manufacturer to see if this is the case.

Fix error code A28
Your device is not experiencing connection issues to the internet. Check your connection and try again.

Fix error code A29
An unexpected error has occurred within the Stan app. Restarting the device and the Stan app should fix the problem. Otherwise, check your internet connection speed or update your Stan app.

Fix error code A30
A network or system firmware issue is occurring when you see this error code. A soft restart of your device should fix this. Otherwise clear the Stan app or web browser cache, check your connection speed or update the Stan app or your TVs software.

Fix error code A33
The browser you are using to play Stan is not up to date or is too old and therefore unsupported to use the Stan app.
To fix this, first check your browser is supported. If it is, update your browser to the latest version and try again.

Fix error code A34
If you're seeing this message it means that Stan is having trouble connecting to your network. Several things can cause this, for example, your internet may be running too slow (so you will need to check your connection speed) or may not be connected at all.
As a failsafe, try rebooting your modem and start again. You may also consider connecting directly to your modem/router with an Ethernet cable for a faster connection. Otherwise, simply updating your TV software may resolve the error code.

Fix error code A35
Screen mirroring to an external display is the cause for this error code. Screen mirroring from a mobile device to a different display is unsupported by Stan and will not work, unfortunately.

Stan error code B20
Stan error code B20 occurs when attempting to stack multiple vouchers on top of one another.
Only some vouchers can be used in conjunction with others. To use multiple vouchers, you may need to wait until one has expired before redeeming another.

Stan error codes C to D
Error codes that start with C or D typically relate to content specific issues.
Fix error code C8
You'll have this issue if either your TV or streaming device is not able to perform live streaming or your Stan app is not up to date.

Fix error code C11
Stan error Code C11 indicates a VPN service is being used, which Stan does not support. Simply disable your VPN to continue using Stan or
If you are trying to access Stan outside of Australia, unfortunately you won't be able to as it is a streaming service with geo-blocking restrictions.
If you are being served this issue while in Australia and are not using a VPN, we recommend powercycling your device and modem or router or contacting your ISP. For detailed instructions on how to perform each of these, please visit the Stan website.
Fix error code DL7
Some shows can only be downloaded so many times per year due to licensing. If you're seeing this error it means your account has hit its maximum number of downloads allowed for that particular TV show, or movie.
If you believe you have incorrectly been served this error message because you have not downloaded this content before or exceeded your maximum downloads, contact the Stan Support team here.
Fix error code DL9
Stan error code DL9 means your are either outside Australia trying to access Stan or you are using a VPN. Either way, Stan content will not be supported.
If you are having issues playing a downloaded title while offline, it is recommended performing a quick restart of your mobile device and relaunch the Stan app.
If you have a VPN or custom DNS service enabled, you will need to disable it to continue using Stan.

Stan error codes starting with L revolve around account and login details.

Fix error code L3
The login details you are using are incorrect. Double check your details or reset your password by clicking Forgot your password? on Stan's login screen.
If a prompt appears saying We can't find a Stan account for that email address when selecting Forgot your password? this means there is no Stan account under that email address. Check for typos or try another email address.

Fix error code L6
Your Stan account is inactive. This means either you're logged into the wrong account or your payments may have lapsed so the account you're using has been suspended or cancelled.
You can reactive your account via Credit or Debit, PayPal, using a Stan Gift Card, through iTunes or via a Smart TV or Gaming Console.

Fix error code L8
If your are either outside Australia and trying to access Stan, unfortunately, Stan content will not be supported. Otherwise, if you are using a a VPN or custom DNS service, you will need to disable it to continue using Stan.

Fix error code L10
Multiple failed logins trigger this error code.
To resolve this issue, simply check the details and try again or reset your Stan account.

If you're sure your details are correct, it may be because you are logging into Stan outside Australia or you are using a VPN or custom DNS service. Unfortunately, Stan content is not supported outside Australia or with the use of a VPN or custom DNS service. You will need to disable these to continue using Stan.
Fix error code L14
The Stan app you are using is not up to date and is therefore unsupported.
To fix this, reinstall the Stan app to get the latest version or check if there's an update available. Otherwise, rebooting your mobile device should resolve the problem.

Other Stan error codes
Here are some other Stan error codes that you may come across.
Error code P4: That PIN has already been redeemed
If a PIN has already been redeemed on a Gift Card you are trying to use, make sure the vouchers hasn't already been used or applied to a different Stan account.
If it has you will need to purchase a new Gift Card.

Gift cards can not be applied to iTunes account
Since you cannot redeem a Stan Gift Card on an account made on an iTunes account, you will need to cancel this Stan account via iTunes and head to stan.com.au/gift to create a new Stan account.
