What is Flash?
Flash is the latest in a trickle of streaming platforms created by Foxtel. Flash focuses on news and uses the same platform structure as Kayo, and Binge.
How much does Flash cost?
Flash will set you back just $8 per month, and there is no tiered pricing structure. Those $8 will buy you single screen access at a maximum of 1080p resolution.
This makes Flash Foxtel's cheapest streaming service available - Kayo starts at $25 per month, while Binge starts at just $10, and Foxtel Plus starts at $25 for the base package.
What's on Flash?
At launch, news sources on Flash include: Al Jazeera, ausbiz, BBC World News, Bloomberg TV, Bloomberg Quicktake, Channel News Asia, CNBC, CNN International, ET Now, FOX News Channel, FOX SPORTS News, GB News, i24NEWS, France24, news.com.au, NHK World, REA, Russia Today, Sky News Australia, Sky News UK, Sky News Extra, Sky News Weather, Storyful, PeopleTV, Times Now, USA Today, USA Today SportsWire and The Wall Street Journal.
According to CEO Patrick Delany, “Flash won’t be what the market expects. It will be more than simply aggregating live channels. Our experience and technology platform gives us the ability to draw on successful Kayo features and innovations to provide an outstanding news experience for our subscribers”.
Piggy backing off Binge and Kayo's platform capabilities, Flash allows for manual personalisation where users can follow topics, news and opinions of their choice, as well as FlashLists where you can consolidate stories to watch later - like any other list functionality.
Soon after launch more features will be available including FlashPoint, providing every angle of every story and FlashNav, getting straight to the big moments of stories faster. Flash representation hinted that something close to SplitScreen as seen on Kayo sports may also come later on down the track.
How do I get a Flash free trial?
A 14-day free trial of Flash is available now direct from the site.
How do I watch Flash?
As Flash runs on the same underpinning platform as Kayo and Binge, users have a range of options to watch Flash.

Flash also supports fourth-generation Apple TVs, Google Chromecast, Telstra TV, and Android smart TVs.
Right now Kayo is available on Playstation 4 and 5 consoles, but Binge and Flash are not available on any consoles yet although the platform should see these updates in the next few months.
How much data does Flash use?
Flash's data usage will vary depending on the quality of your stream. Content is available in SD or HD, varying between 360p and 1080p. Here is how much data Flash News uses.
| Resolution | GB usage per hour |
|---|---|
| 360p | 0.3GB |
| 720p | 1.5GB |
| 1080p | 3.25GB |
The ideal speed for streaming Flash in HD 1080 is 4-5Mbps, but the service will automatically deliver a lower resolution when your connection is running slow. You can also set playback quality restrictions on your phone or tablet in order to decrease your data usage.
