Service not available to all areas, homes or customers. The type of service offered may need further qualification checks to determine what’s available at your location. Actual FTTB/FTTC/FTTN speeds confirmed after connection. Fixed Wireless comes with Standard Evening Speed and typical speeds will be lower. Typical evening speeds experienced may be lower due to various factors including your in-home setup and wiring.
This Telstra Upfront Internet plans includes a home phone service with the following rates and inclusions:
The Telstra Smart Modem 4 comes with 4G backup and gives customers access to more speed on more devices in more corners of the home. It includes the newest Wi-fi 6 technology which is paired with innovative software that helps improve the speed of the Wi-fi delivered to devices. It is included in the monthly price of the casual internet plans for new Telstra customers who stay connected for 24 months. If you leave within 24 months, return your modem or pay a $200 non return fee.
SmartFix is a clever tool that proactively monitors the speed, stability, and connectivity of your service. It automatically detects and resolves internet issues remotely, sometimes without you even knowing. It typically works quietly in the background to help keep your internet performance in shape.
If you’re not happy with your nbn service, let Telstra know within 30 days of connecting and if they can't fix it, you can cancel your nbn services without penalty. First time Telstra on nbn connections only.
Customers who join Telstra Plus will have access to exciting membership benefits such as discounted tickets, entertainment extras on us and VIP services. The benefits you will have access to are based on your membership tier. You will be rewarded with points based on your account spend every month. You will get 10 points for every $1 of eligible spend. The points can be redeemed on the Telstra Plus Rewards Store on a range of rewards.
An nbn service can never go faster than the maximum line speed available at your premises, so for FTTN/B/C customers we will confirm your maximum attainable speed after connection and let you know if your line is not able to achieve the maximum speed of your plan.
The nbn® tier figures represent wholesale maximum network speeds during off-peak periods. The nbn® tier figures and ‘typical busy period speeds’ are not measures of customers’ actual in-premises speeds, which may be slower. Not all customers receive these speeds. In some cases, the nbn® tier figures and the typical busy period speeds are similar. Find out more about speeds on the nbn network with Telstra.
Plan prices: Your plan and add-ons may change (including price and inclusions). If you don’t like a change, you can change your plan or cancel your plan or add-ons. If you cancel, just pay out your device, accessories and services in full.
High speeds: Typical busy period speeds for Business Pro Fast, Pro Superfast and Pro Ultrafast are an estimate only. We do not have sufficient data yet to calculate the typical busy period speeds. We're still calculating typical busy period download speeds 9am-5pm, weekdays on this plan - the information here is an estimate only. Speeds experienced may be lower due to factors incl. modem and cabling and in-home set up/wiring. For ordinary personal domestic use. For important information on speeds see nbn key facts sheet (PDF, 81KB).
Service Availability: Services not available to all areas or premises.
Installation: Standard installation includes self-installation of your modem, eligibility criteria applies. Extra charges apply for non-standard installation of Telstra and NBN Co equipment and for premises in new developments.
Telstra Smart Modem 4: Mobile backup is available with eligible plans only and to premises in mobile coverage areas. Check coverage at telstra.com/coverage. Your mobile backup connection is capped at 25Mbps for downloads and 5Mbps for uploads.
nbn® New Development Charge: If you’re in a new development without existing phone or internet infrastructure, nbn co may impose a $300 New Development Charge (NDC) to connect you to the nbn network. This includes new lots, subdivisions, and granny flats with a separate address from the primary residence. If applicable, we will bill that charge to you and we will let you know at the time of confirming your order and you will have the option to cancel. Extra charges may apply for non-standard or professional installation of Telstra or nbn co equipment and for premises in new developments. Once you are connected to nbn fibre, you won’t be able to move to our copper network.
Mobile network backup with Telstra Smart Modem 4: Mobile backup is available to premises in mobile coverage areas. Check coverage at telstra.com/coverage. In the event of a fault on the nbn, our Smart Modem can switch your service to our mobile network automatically. We’ll switch your service back to the nbn when the fault is resolved.
The mobile network backup service is uncapped and unshaped when there’s a fault. This means there is no limit on data allowance or speed, and it's included in the plan, so you don't have to worry about additional charges. Mobile coverage required. Only available with eligible plans.
Modem included for use with new nbn with voice services. If you cancel, change to a plan without voice or to a different tech type, within 24 months, simply return your modem or pay a $200 non-return fee. Backup available with eligible plans. Mobile coverage required.

Australia's biggest telco provider has offered a number of great mobile broadband plans for all data appetites and is certainly worth considering for anyone looking for the convenience that mobile broadband offers.
Telstra is one of Australia's most accountable organisations in regards to setting and meeting climate change targets, and is delivering impactful sustainable change within its own business and its supply chain. Already carbon neutral, Telstra is on its way to significantly reducing its absolute emissions with projects including energy efficiency, renewable energy, greater use of recycled materials, reforestation and supporting its supply chain partners to decarbonise as well.
If you're ready to jump to a new broadband plan - and only the best will do - there's a reason why Telstra is still Australia's biggest telco. Telstra isn't usually the best option for more budget-conscious customers, but if you're after quality, reliability and speed, Telstra has plenty of offer with a wide range of NBN and mobile broadband plans.
If you're after a Telstra NBN plan, you can pick from six speed tiers: NBN 25, NBN 50, NBN 100, NBN 500, NBN 750, and NBN 1000. Just be aware that NBN 500 plans are only available to addresses that have an FTTP or HFC connection type.
That being said, most FTTN and FTTC addresses can now request a free upgrade to FTTP by ordering an NBN 500 plan or faster, through an eligible provider like Telstra. Read more about the free upgrade process here.
Telstra offers two types of NBN plans: "Upfront" and "internet-only".
Upfront plans include a modem and 4G backup, and are bundled with a home phone landline at no extra cost, with unlimited calls to standard Australian mobiles and landlines.
Internet-only plans, like the name suggests, only give you internet. You don't get the modem, 4G backup, or phone calls, but as such, they are cheaper. Telstra will still sell you a modem if you buy an internet-only plan and want one, but it won't have 4G backup.
Telstra's NBN plans are as follows:
Be aware that if you leave a Telstra Upfront NBN plan within the first 24 months, you'll need to return your modem or pay a hardware fee.
Telstra also has a small range of mobile broadband plans. These can be purchased as a SIM-only option or paired with a portable modem.
To find out if you're eligible for a Telstra NBN plan, first check your address in our broadband search engine. If your home is covered by Telstra, all available plans will be listed in the search results.
Decide on the right plan for you, click the Go To Site button and follow the prompts. The Telstra team will help you to organise an installation date and time, plus take care of transferring your home phone number to your new account, where possible.
If you already have an NBN connection with another provider, that's no problem - simply follow the same steps as above. However, since you've already got NBN, you won't need a technician to visit your home or office. Instead, Telstra will be able to simply activate your new NBN service. In most cases, your new plan should be live within a day. Be sure to check that your old NBN plan has been cancelled with your previous provider after your Telstra service is live.
Another important thing to note: while having your premise connected to the NBN is free for most customers (excluding the upfront costs you may need to pay when signing up for a plan), if you're located in a newly developed area with no existing telecommunications infrastructure, you may be charged a $300 New Development Fee by NBN Co.
Telstra sells plans configured on six speed tiers: NBN 25, NBN 50, NBN 100, NBN 500, NBN 750, and NBN 1000. You can find more information on NBN speeds here.
Telstra's Upfront NBN includes a modem at no extra cost, but there are also cheaper internet-only plans that let you bring your own modem if you have one you like.
Telstra's NBN plans are now all no-contract. However, if you're on an Upfront NBN plan, you'll need to return your modem if you leave within the first 24 months or a pay a non-return fee.
Telstra's Upfront NBN plans all include unlimited standard local, national, and mobile calls. Telstra's internet-only and mobile broadband plans do not include calls.
