Surprise: Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is now streaming in Australia

Right in time for a Friday family movie night, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has finally landed on Paramount Plus in Australia. It's been a slow road to streaming for the blue blur's third cinematic outing, which was released in cinemas on Boxing Day 2024, but it's finally available on-demand.

Despite being the third film in the series, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 was still one of the highest-grossing movies of 2024, a year dominated by family and kids' movies. Grossing over $492 million worldwide, it beat out blockbusters like Gladiator II, Bad Boys: Ride or Die, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, Twisters and Alien: Romulus.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is rated PG here in Australia. Following on from the events of Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic, Tails and Knuckles are shipped off to Japan to take down yet another sinister speedster, Shadow the Hedgehog (voiced by a suitably broody Keanu Reeves).

In what was thought to be his final role before his retirement (before he left the door open for more Sonic), Jim Carrey plays dual roles as Ivo and Gerald Robotnik.
