Paramount Plus snagged exclusive Australian streaming rights for The Kim Kardashian Diamond Heist documentary. The doc is a deep dive into the harrowing incident which saw Kim Kardashian kidnapped, and USD$9 million worth of jewellery stolen from a Paris hotel.
The documentary boasts exclusive access to friends of the family, French police, and journalists who extensively covered the case, although whether Kim will join the crew is yet to be seen.
This case, which is among the most high-profile celebrity crimes of late, has already been a whirlwind. While Kardashian hasn't opened up about the ordeal for quite some time, during the criminal trial, she admitted that she feared for her life.
"I would be dead on the bed, shot dead, and [Kourtney] would have this memory forever," the socialite said on the stand. She had pleaded with the attackers, telling them she needed to get home to her children, which seemingly softened one who told her, "shh, and you'll be OK."
During the trial one of the defendants, Aomar Ait Khedache submitted a note to be read by the judge.
"I want to come to you as a human being to tell you how much I regret my action, how moved and touched I was to see you in tears."
"I want you to know that I fully sympathise with the suffering you, your children, your husband and your loved ones are going through."
"Since becoming aware of your situation, my conscience has compelled me to contact you in the gentlest and, I hope, most comforting of ways," he added. "Of course, the past cannot be undone, but I hope that this letter will enable you to gradually forget the trauma you have experienced through my fault."
Another defendant on trial, Yunice Abbas, wrote a book back in 2021 called I Kidnapped Kim Kardashian, while the brother of Kardashian's Parisian driver is accused of providing information about her whereabouts.
There is a lot to unpack, and the BBC documentary is going beyond the headlines and promising to reveal new revelations in an already mind-boggling ordeal.
It will be available to stream from June 26 on 10 Play, or July 4 on Paramount Plus.
