Presto announce 20 HBO, Showtime TV series for 2015

Presto look set to win the streaming TV wars next year, with the announcement that 20 popular HBO and Showtime TV series will be available on the service “in 2015”.

Weeks after revealing that TV content would be available on the Presto service, co-partners Foxtel and Seven West today add a swag of U.S. shows to the Australian content already in the line-up.

These shows include The Sopranos, Entourage, True Blood, Dexter, Boardwalk Empire, Deadwood, Girls, Veep and Six Feet Under: a mix of currently airing shows and older favourites. There’s no word yet whether Presto will include the complete back catalogue for these shows or just select seasons.

If the Presto team has acquired exclusive rights to these programs for Australia, it will make it very difficult for the competing services Netflix, Stan and Quickflix to compete through 2015 and for as long as these content rights persist.
