The adorable stop-motion Pokémon Concierge series is back on Netflix come September 4. After a short, four-episode run back in 2023, Haru and her companions at the Pokémon Resort will return with new episodes just in time for Australian spring.
While the resort does have similar vibes to The White Lotus - exclusive, likely expensive, heavily vetted clientele - Pokémon Resort is a more wholesome island adventure. In the first season, we met Haru, who gave up her life on the mainland to try and find some joy in her work. Sub-textually, that girl was really burnt out and touching grass wasn’t enough; she had to pat some Pokémon.
The new season will pick up where the last one left off, with Haru and Psyduck taking on new challenges across the island. Things seem to be going well, but that might just take a turn when Kent - a visitor from Haru’s old life, shows up. With sexy results? Probably not, but even Charmander would be jealous of the spark between these two.
Similar to season one, season two looks like it will grapple with life, loss, and joy against the background of the idyllic Pokémon Resort. And well, why fix a format that isn’t broken? The mini series earned nods from both the 2024 Annie Awards and the 2024 Annecy Awards, and a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Whether the latest season lives up to the hype is yet to be seen, but get your sunscreen ready because spring is looking a bit brighter with this on the horizon.
