Break out the champagne and corgis: we’re only days away from the much-anticipated nuptials of Prince Henry of Wales - colloquially known as Prince Harry - and the world’s luckiest B-list actress, Meghan Markle.
Whether you’re a dedicated Royal watcher, or a just casual follower of England’s most famous family, there’s plenty of reasons to tune in to one of the biggest television events of 2018. And even if you’re a staunch anti-monarchist who sees the Royals as the parasitic last vestiges of an outdated and classist form of rule, everyone loves a wedding.
So if you’re watching to critique Meghan’s choice of bridal gown, to check in on the status of Prince William’s hairline, or simply to keep up with the memes that will inevitably follow, here’s where to catch the ceremony live.
Free-to-air television
The happy couple will walk down the aisle at Windsor Castle this Saturday, May 19, with the church ceremony scheduled to begin at 9pm Aussie time. And with the wedding set to be broadcast on the four big free-to-air networks, it’s basically impossible to miss if you’re planning to watch on TV.
Here’s where and when to catch it live; all times listed are AEST.
Channel Seven: From 7pm, hosted by Melissa Doyle and Michael Usher
Channel Nine: From 7pm, hosted by Georgie Gardner and Karl Stefanovic
ABC: From 7.30pm, hosted by Annabel Crabb and Jeremy Fernandez
SBS: From 7.30pm, hosted by Myf Warhurst and Joel Creasey
Foxtel
Pay TV subscribers can also tune in to the nuptials of the year straight from the Foxtel remote. You’ll be able to view the live BBC coverage via UKTV from 9pm, but if you’re looking for a comedic or fashion-focused take on the ceremony, that’s not your only option.
Foxtel’s E! Live channel will also be broadcasting from 7pm, with commentary from hosts Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski. And if you’d rather make a mockery of the whole spectacle, you can catch Will Ferrell and Molly Shannon hosting The Royal Wedding with Cord and Tish from 9.30pm on the Comedy Channel.
Online
Can’t get to a TV? No problem – you’ll be able to stream the ceremony live through Channel Nine and the ABC. Head over to 9Now from 7pm, or ABC’s iView from 7.30pm, to catch all the matrimonial action on your laptop, tablet or mobile.
