Foxtel is looking to lure lovers of bit TV drama from other streaming services, with a deep discount on its Movies and Drama Foxtel Play pack in the lead up to Game of Thrones later this month.
Between April 19 and April 29, the price of the Movies & Drama pack on the Foxtel Play streaming service will be cut from $25 per month, to just $5 per month for the next 3 months. This is enough time to get through the 10 episodes of the sixth season of Game of Thrones.
This will bring the total price of a Foxtel Play subscription to $30 for the period; $25 for one ‘genre pick’ and $5 for Movies & Drama. All Foxtel Play accounts are contract-free, so you could cancel your plan after Game of Thrones ends if you wanted to.
Of course, the Movies & Drama pack offers a lot more than just Game of Thrones. You get access to a library of popular shows through the Box Sets category, including Veep, Penny Dreadful, Band of Brothers, Entourage, and several others. There is also an updating list of recent release movies to watch.
It’s worth noting that this deal is for Foxtel Play only, and not for regular Foxtel subscriptions. Foxtel Play is the streaming-only arm of the Foxtel family, and works like rival Netflix. All shows are streamed over the internet, which means you don’t need special hardware to make use of it, but you do need a broadband plan with enough data for all of the downloads.
You can watch Foxtel Play through a web browser on your PC or Mac, or through specially designed apps installed on Samsung, Sony and LG TVs, and gaming consoles like the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
