After months of rumours, Foxtel has launched a beta version of its standalone streaming service focused solely on sports.
Dubbed Kayo Sports, the service appears to have all the content you'd typical find in the Foxtel sports package. This includes over 50 sports, encompassing AFL, NRL, A-League, F1, NBA, NBL, NFL, MotoGP, and more. Any sport broadcast on Fox Sports, ESPN and BeIN should be streamable on Kayo.
Sports are available live and on demand, and Kayo even features a "no spoilers" mode that can lock off scores and results until you're ready to watch. There's also a splitview streaming mode that lets you watch up to four videos at once; this can be multiple games, or multiple camera angles of the same match. Splitview is not available on mobile devices at this time.
Kayo is currently only viewable in a web browser - Chrome, Safari, and Firefox - but mobile users watching in a mobile browser can still beam the stream to a Chromecast or Apple TV for a big screen viewing experience. Dedicated apps for iPhone, Android, Apple TV, and Telstra TV are "coming soon".
Kayo will set you back $25 per month for a basic subscription, or $35 per month for a premium subscription. A basic subscription allows you to watch on two devices simultaneously, while opting for premium will expand this to three. Given access to sports content costs a minimum of $54 per month through Foxtel Now, we'd say this is a pretty good deal.
A 14-day free trial is available for new customers.
