Stan today confirmed that its Stan Sport add-on will set subscribers back an additional $10 per month when it launches in the near future. Rather than acting as a standalone subscription, Stan Sport needs to be bundled on top of existing Stan subscriptions, which start at $10 per month. This means you're looking at a minimum of $20 per month to access Stan Sport content.
Stan subscribers can get themselves a 30-day Stan Sport free trial, and can already pre-activate it. The trial won't start until the service launches.
Stan has yet to confirm an exact launch date for Stan Sport, but we'd presume it will line-up with the start of the 2021 Super Rugby season. The first match is currently scheduled for February 19.
In addition to Super Rugby, the service will have Super W, Wallaroos games, Shute Shield, Hospital Cup, Mitre 10 & Currie Cup, plus SANZAAR Union home games. Nine will also broadcast all Wallabies Test matches played in Australia and New Zealand, plus a selection of Super Rugby on free-to-air for those who don't subscribe.
Stan Sport will also feature archival content comprising "the greatest moments in Australia rugby history".
Stan's parent company Nine is planning to invest in additional exclusive sports rights, and has already secured Wimbledon and the French Open.
