Epson is bringing a new short throw projector to Australia next year, and it's got big screen TVs in its sights.
Dubbed the EH-LS500, Epson's latest is a ultra short throw projector that can beam out an image as large as 130-inches. As "ultra short throw" might suggest, this means the EH-LS500 can project a massive picture while being right up against a wall. You don't need to place it on the other side of the room. This makes for a much simpler setup, especially when it comes to connecting other devices like consoles.
While the EH-LS500 outputs at 4K, this is technically an upscaled Full HD image.

The EH-LS500 has a 4,000 lumen bulb, which means it should be reasonably clear during day or night. Picture quality looked solid during our recent eyes-on but this was in a reasonably dark space. It's hard to say exactly how well the EP-LS500 competes with direct sunlight. Other key specifications include a HDR10 support, 3x HDMI ports, and 2x 10W speakers.
While official pricing and availability has yet to be confirmed, we've been told we can expect the EH-LS500 to cost somewhere around $5,000, which is surprisingly reasonable. For comparison, we've seen other short throw projectors priced as high as $20,000. TV prices start to rise rapidly as soon as you go over 75-inches, so if you want a large screen at a reasonable price, Epson's EH-LS500 could be a good bet.
