Some sports have fewer streaming options than others. If you want, cricket, you get Kayo Sports and Prime Video. For NRL and AFL, it's Kayo Sports with a free 7plus account to watch every match live. But for basketball, there are more options, with some offering more and others a crossover of content. Scroll on for all of your options for streaming NBA, WNBA, NBL, and WNBL in Australia.
Where can I stream the NBA and WNBA?
In 2025, a new contender emerges for streaming NBA in Australia. Prime Video bolstered its sports streaming in Australia with the NBA on 25 October 2025. As part of an 11-year agreement with the NBA, Prime Video offers 66 regular-season NBA games. These games include a first-week doubleheader, all the Knockout Rounds matches, the in-season semifinals and finals, and an all-new Black Friday NBA game. Practically speaking, check Prime Video for the Thursday night doubleheaders, Friday night games, and select Saturday arvo matches.
The agreement also covers NBA pregame, postgame, and halftime shows. Prime Video will also offer every game of the postseason SoFi NBA Play-in Tournament, the first-round and second-round playoff games, plus NBA Conference Finals in six of those 11 years. In select territories, there are at least 20 more additional primetime, regular-season NBA games each year, plus a Conference Finals series. These territories also get the NBA Finals in six of the 11 years of the agreement. But Australia isn't one of those regions.
You can also buy the NBA League Pass from Prime Video as a channel add-on for $24.99 per month. If that's not enough basketball, Prime Video will also stream half of the NBA Summer League games, plus a package of WNBA and NBA G League matches (regular season and postseason).
Speaking of WNBA, that's also covered in the Prime Video agreement, albeit coverage starts in 2026 and the schedule was still being determined at the time of writing. Prime Video will stream 30 WNBA regular-season games, including the WNBA Commissioner's Cup Championship Game. A Prime Video sub also includes WNBA postseason games, including one first-round series per year, seven semifinal series, plus three WNBA Finals over the course of the agreement. Prime Video will also reportedly offer the WNBA League Pass.
In terms of subscription costs, it's $9.99 per month for Prime Video or you can pay $79 for the year. There is a $2.99 no-ads add-on for Prime Video, but you can still expect ads for live sports, including NBA.
Where can I stream the NBL and WNBL?
To get a range of basketball content, including more NBA and WNBA, you can also grab a subscription to any streaming service that includes ESPN. Practically speaking, that's either Kayo Sports, Foxtel Now, Disney Plus, or Fetch TV. According to ESPN, that's roughly 240 NBA games during the regular season. Additionally, ESPN also offers "an enhanced game package" for the First Round and Second Round of the NBA Playoffs, plus all of the games in the NBA Conference Finals and the NBA Finals.
If you're after WNBA matches, Kayo Sports has live and on-demand matches from May to October. The disclaimer is WNBA match availability is dependent on ESPN coverage for in-season games as well as WNBA playoffs and the WNBA Finals. Speaking of ESPN, relevant NBA and WNBA matches are available for live streaming on Disney Plus and Fetch TV. Effectively, you can get different NBA and WNBA games by having a Prime Video subscription and using a service that includes ESPN.
But if you want to play it safe, you really want an NBA League Pass and/or a WNBA League Pass. In Australia, an NBA League Pass costs $24.99 per month or $174.99 per full season for one stream in Full HD quality with ads. Alternatively, the NBA League Pass Premium costs $32.99 per month or $229.99 per full season for three Full HD streams, plus offline viewing and an in-arena stream instead of ads. Note that the season prices may go down as the NBA season progresses. For a WNBA League Pass, it's $12.99 a month or $34.99 per year.
Kayo Standard has a $30 monthly cost for one Full HD stream, or it's a $40 monthly fee for Kayo Premium, which has two streams. While Kayo Premium supports up to 4K quality, NBA matches are only broadcast at Full HD resolution. For the same NBA content, you can also pay more for Foxtel Now: typically $84 per month for Foxtel Now Sports + Movies or $104 per month for Foxtel Now Ultimate (all channels). Either option comes with two Full HD streams.
Disney Plus Standard is either $15.99 per month or $159.99 for a year; either subscription comes with two Full HD streams. If you want four streams in up to 4K quality (for non-NBA content), Disney Premium has a $20.99 monthly fee or costs $209.99 for a year. Fetch TV costs start with either the Fetch Mini 5 ($159 RRP) or Fetch Mighty 4 ($499 RRP) set-top box. Then you've got options for ESPN. Pay either $7.99 (up from $6) per month for the Fetch TV Vibe Pack or a $24.99 (up from $20) monthly fee for the Fetch TV Ultimate Pack.

Where can I stream the NBL and WNBL?
The Aussie version of NBA, NBL, is growing in popularity in Australia. And broadcasting has changed since the NBL25 season, with a "multi-year" extension for NBL matches on ESPN. To watch every NBL game live, you need ESPN, which you can get via Disney Plus, Foxtel, Foxtel Now, Kayo Sports, or Fetch TV. The relevant prices are outlined above. For live and free matches, sign up for a 10 Play account and tune in on Sundays.
Speaking of free-streaming basketball, it's even easier to watch WNBL for the 2025/2026 season. All WNBL games are live and free on 9Now. Just sign up for a free account to get streaming. Alternatively, every WNBL game is live and free via WNBL.com.au or the WNBL app. Otherwise, WNBL games are also streamable on ESPN. The WNBL lists Disney Plus as the official way to watch these ESPN matches, but they should also be accessible via the ESPN content on Foxtel, Foxtel Now, Kayo Sports, and Fetch TV.
Where can I stream the NBA and NBL finals?
Let's start with the easy one first. Live matches for the NBL playoffs and finals are all available on ESPN, so you've got options: Disney Plus, Foxtel, Foxtel Now, Kayo Sports, or Fetch TV. For WNBL finals, you should be able to catch them live and free on 9Now or ESPN. For WNBA, use a virtual private network (VPN) to stream the WNBA Finals (and other matches) via the FIBA YouTube channel.
But for all of the NBA or WNBA Finals action, get the corresponding League Pass. Alternatively, get something that offers ESPN for the NBA and WNBA. Prime Video will also have some NBA Finals matches, but the League Pass is still the best way to ensure you get to watch every NBA or WNBA match.
What is Kayo Sports?
Kayo Sports is a standalone version of the Sports add-on for Foxtel Now. With a Kayo Sport subscription, you'll get access to the greatest number of sports in Australia, including AFL, NRL, cricket, tennis, and American sports like NFL, basketball, and baseball. The big disclaimer is that DAZN is now the owner of Foxtel, so it's anticipated that Kayo content will eventually shift to DAZN.
How does Kayo Sport compare?
Kayo is still the best sports streaming service in Australia if you're after a quantity of popular sports. While the price keeps creeping up, Kayo is the only place to watch the vast majority of AFL, NRL, and cricket matches in Australia.
It's improved since launch, offering a mix of live channels – including dedicated options for popular sports – individually highlighted live matches and replays. For popular sports, the replays are typically available as full matches or shorter 'Minis' (highlights packages). If you miss a live match that you're keen to experience fresh, Kayo has a no-spoilers toggle that's well worth enabling. Alternatively, skip to key match moments on longer replays.
Most Kayo content streams at Full HD resolution, but more 4K content is appearing for Kayo Premium subscribers, most notably for AFL and NRL matches. Like Netflix and other entertainment streaming services, Kayo also offers user profiles, which helps personalise the sports you're being fed on the homepage. And if you've got a compatible device, Kayo also offers SplitView so you can stream multiple sports at the same time on the one screen.
