Fast and Furious Saga movies

Since 2001, The Fast & the Furious franchise has captivated the hearts of adrenaline junkies, action fanatics and car aficionados worldwide. It's hard to think of a bigger car series or even a bigger action series, for that matter.

If you're revved up for a rewatch, we've compiled a handy list of how to watch every mainline film and spin-off ahead of Fast Forever, which is scheduled to be released in 2028.

The Fast and the Furious (2001)

Vin Diesel in The Fast and the Furious

The one that started it all, The Fast and the Furious introduced us to Brian 'Earl Spilner' O'Connor (Walker), an undercover cop working the car racing scene.

After he gets in with notorious criminal and leading man, Dominic Toretto (Diesel) and his gang, he finds himself not only drawn to Dom's sister, Mia, but also the group of ragtag misfits and their strong family bond.

Director: Rob Cohen | Cast: Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Matt Schulze, Rick Yune, Chad Lindberg, Johnny Strong, Thom Barry

Language: English | Rating: M

Genre: Action, car thriller

Available on: Stan, Binge or Foxtel

2 Fast 2 Furious (2003)

2 Fast 2 Furious

Drifting slightly away from the original cast and crew, 2 Fast 2 Furious is a favourite among many for its spin-off style and addition of fresh characters like Tej (Ludacris).

In this film, ex-cop Brian O'Connor (Paul Walker) must team up with his ex-con buddy Roman Pearce (Tyrese Gibson) in an undercover mission in the, you guessed it, car scene. Their job? Take down Carter Verone, a high-profile figure in Miami's drug scene, wanted by the U.S. Customs Service.

Director: John Singleton | Cast: Paul Walker, Tyrese Gibson, Cole Hauser, Eva Mendes, Ludacris, Thom Barry, James Remar, Devon Aoki, Amaury Nolasco

Language: English | Rating: M

Genre: Action, car thriller

Available on: Stan, Binge or Foxtel

The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006)

Lucas Black in Tokyo Drift

The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift film is not only set in the bustling streets of Japan instead of the USA, but it actually slots into the Fast timeline between the sixth and seventh films.

When teen Sean (Lucas Black) totals a car in an illegal street race, he is sent to live with his severely absent father in Tokyo. While his parents hope he'll straighten out and focus on school, Sean instead learns cars are an international language. And he's about to trade American muscle to become fluent in the art of Japanese drifting.

Director: Justin Lin | Cast: Lucas Black, Shad Moss, Brian Tee, Sung Kang,  Zachery Ty Bryan, Brian Goodman, Nathalie Kelley

Language: English | Rating: M

Available on: Stan, Binge or Foxtel

Fast & Furious (2009)

Vin Diesel and Paul Walker in Fast & Furious

Many original Fast cast members are back, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster... And you know who else is back? Brian O'Connor (Paul Walker) who has returned to his role at the FBI.

But when he has to team up with his old pal Dominic Toretto to infiltrate a drug-smuggling ring, the lines between remaining a law-abiding cop and helping seek personal revenge become blurry at best.

Tokyo Drift director clearly had a fun time because he would return for Fast & Furious and again later in the series.

Director: Justin Lin | Cast: Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, John Ortiz, Laz Alonso, Gal Gadot, Sung Kang

Language: English | Rating: M

Available on: Stan, Binge or Foxtel

Fast Five (2011)

Production has sped up on the Fast franchise now, with just two years between this film and the last.

Fast Five is yet again directed by Justin Lin and stars the usual gang plus some big names, such as Dwayne Johnson, Elsa Pataky and Joaquim de Almeida.

It also draws together several familiar characters from other Fast films, including Vince (Matt Schulze), Han (Sung Kang), Roman (Tyrese Gibson), Gisele (Gal Gadot) and Tej (Ludacris).

Fast Five is filmed in the vibrant Rio de Janeiro where a notorious ruler, Reyes (de Almeida), is bleeding the locals dry of all their money and corrupting local law enforcement. So the team, who are now on the other side of the law, hatch a plan to steal it all back. As if this isn't tough enough, Dwayne Johnson's top dog federal agent Hobbs (remember that name for later) is hot on their tail.

Director: Justin Lin | Cast: Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Jordana Brewster, Matt Schulze, Sung Kang, Tyrese Gibson, Gal Gadot, Ludacris, Dwayne Johnson, Elsa Pataky, Joaquim de Almeida

Language: English | Rating: M

Available on: Stan, Binge or Foxtel

Fast & Furious 6 (2013)

And just another two short years later, we have Fast & Furious 6. While the gang seem to have it all figured out with their $100 million loot, the one thing they don't have is freedom.

To get it, they'll need full pardons, and the man who can give it to them is Hobbs (Johnson). His price? The gang will need to assemble all their forces to take down a common enemy: Owen Shaw (Luke Evans).

Shaw is the head of a group of mercenary drivers who have been tracked by Hobbs across over 10 countries. But when a ghost from the gang's past surfaces, things get messy on both sides.

Director: Justin Lin | Cast: Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, Tyrese Gibson, Gal Gadot, Ludacris, Dwayne Johnson, Elsa Pataky, Luke Evans, Gina Carano

Language: English | Rating: M

Available on: Stan, Binge or Foxtel

Furious 7 (2015)

Directed by James Wan (Saw, The Conjuring, Aquaman), the plot of Furious 7, follows on immediately from Fast & Furious 6. After overthrowing Owen Shaw, Dominic Toretto is about to learn just how far family will go for the ones they love.

With Jason Statham's Deckard Shaw (also remember this name for later) out for revenge, PLUS a tech terrorist threat called "God's Eye" looming over them, this film includes some of the boldest vehicles, stunts and cameos we've ever seen in the Fast franchise. Not to mention, the last scene will bring more than one tear to your eyes, as this was the last Fast movie Paul Walker filmed the majority of his scenes for before his sudden death.

Director: James Wan | Cast: Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Dwayne Johnson, Elsa Pataky, Luke Evans, Jason Statham, Lucas Black, Kurt Russell, Nathalie Emmanuel

Language: English | Rating: M

Available on: Stan, Binge or Foxtel

F8: The Fate of the Furious (2017)

This Fast film was the most divisive, as fans questioned whether they should have continued on without Paul Walker. Nevertheless, The Fate of the Furious grossed $1.23 billion worldwide, proving the franchise had evolved into something much bigger than an undercover cop story.

Brian O'Connor was written into retirement as the rest of the gang set out to bring home Dom, who has crossed back over the wrong side of the law, despite regaining his love, Letty, and a newfound freedom. This film takes us to many exotic locations, from the Arctic in Iceland to New York, Cuba and Germany.

Director: F. Gary Gray | Cast: Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Dwayne Johnson, Elsa Pataky, Luke Evans, Jason Statham, Kurt Russell, Nathalie Emmanuel, Charlize Theron, Scott Eastwood, Kristofer Hivju

Language: English | Rating: M

Available on: Stan, Binge or Foxtel

Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019)

Remember how we said to keep Hobbs & Shaw in the back of your mind? Here's why.

Johnson and Statham got their own spin-off, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. This unlikely duo are definitely more comedic rivals than familia but it makes for great entertainment. This film is much more light-hearted when compared to the usual full throttle action-packed violence of the other Fast films and is directed by David Leitch, who is well-known for his high-octane films like Deadpool 2, Bullet Train and The Fall Guy.

Director: David Leitch | Cast: Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Idris Elba, Vanessa Kirby, Helen Mirren, Eiza González, Eddie Marsan, Eliana Sua, Cliff Curtis

Language: English | Rating: M

Available on: Stan, Prime Video, Binge or Foxtel

F9 (2021)

At 2 hours and 23 minutes, F9 is the longest film in the franchise. However, it's directed, once again, by Justin Lin, after stepping away from the role eight years prior.

This film focuses on how the Toretto familia isn't always sunshine and rainbows when Dom and Mia's estranged brother makes an appearance. Jakob (John Cena, yes, another WWE big shot) is an international terrorist, thief, assassin... You name it, if it's dangerous, it's probably on his resume.

The team must dodge missiles, make cars fly, throw vehicles at bad guys and literally jump cliffs to take Jakob down. It's one of the Fast franchise's most stunt-packed films and will have to be seen to be believed.

Director: Justin Lin | Cast: Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Kurt Russell, Nathalie Emmanuel, Charlize Theron, Lucas Black, Shad Moss, Helen Mirren, John Cena, Sung Kang

Language: English | Rating: M

Available on: Binge or Foxtel

Fast X (2023)

Fast X is the latest release in the franchise and brings in yet another big name - Jason Momoa. Momoa plays Dante, another enemy of Dom's who is exacting revenge over the death of his father.

You'd think the Fast franchise would wrap up at number ten, given this film's tagline was The Last Ride. Yet number 11 is in the works for a 2028 release date. But until then, the latest instalment, Fast X, is available to stream on Apple TV or Prime Video, but it comes at a price of at least $4.99.

Director: Louis Leterrier | Cast: Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jason Statham, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Nathalie Emmanuel, Charlize Theron, Helen Mirren, John Cena, Sung Kang, Scott Eastwood, Jason Momoa

Language: English | Rating: M
