What is IT: Welcome to Derry About?
IT: Welcome to Derry is a prequel to the most recent films from Andy and Barbara Muschietti, with Bill Skarsgård returning to the makeup chair to reprise his role as Pennywise the clown.
It is well-known that the cosmic evil IT returns to terrorise the citizens of Derry, Maine every 27 years. Welcome to Derry details IT’s last visit prior to the events of IT: Chapter One, in 1962. The show begins as a couple, Charlotte (Taylour Paige) and Leroy Hanlon (Jovan Adepo) move to Derry with their son Will (Blake Cameron James). When a young boy disappears, the Hanlons’ arrival in town is followed by a series of mysterious tragedies.
That’s about all that the synopsis explains but we know from the novels that Will Hanlon is the father of Mike Hanlon from the Losers Club. A young Dick Halloran– played by Scatman Crothers in The Shining– has also been cast, suggesting that the tragic events of The Black Spot fire will be explored.
Creators: Andy and Barbara Muschietti | Cast: Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, Blake Cameron James, James Remar and Bill Skarsgård
Language: English | Rating: MA15+
Genre: Horror
Available on: HBO Max
