What to watch if you liked Heated Rivalry

Heated Rivalry is the latest romance-novel-turned-TV series that explores the enemies to lovers theme as well as society's perspectives of LGBTQ relationships, particularly in sport.

But it's not the first, and surely not the last, in a long line of content that's been released in the last 10 years that dives into sexually explorative content. If Heated Rivalry ignited a fire within you, these films and TV series, some of which are also based on books, are sure to resonate with you as well.

Overcompensating (2025)

Overcompensating welcomes you to college! The place where many of us find ourselves... but only after we lose ourselves first.

Benny is a football player navigating his first year of college and all the challenges that come with it. Parties, girls, guys... it's all new and terrifying. The relatable themes and hilarious situations will keep you glued to the screen and more is yet to come with season two on its way.

Love, Victor (2020-2022)

Love, Victor is another school-based tale following (you guessed it) Victor and his journey of self-discovery. As if moving in general isn't jarring enough, exploring his sexuality whilst also new city, school and friendships surely takes the cake for the most complex school year ever.

Interview with a Vampire (2022-present)

Anne Rice's latest version of Interview with a Vampire injects some fresh blood into the critically acclaimed franchise and gives it a modern twist. Exploring themes of LGBTQ relationships, this version of Interview with a Vampire alternatively takes place within a 20th century timeline.

Praised for its engaging plot, expert storytelling and brilliant acting, this is a series you'd be amiss for scrolling past.

Boots (2025)

It's virtually impossible to write this list without mentioning Boots. Set in the 1990s, this TV series takes place in the Marine Corps where a bullied gay teenager and his best friend are hurtled through literal and mental obstacles designed to break them, ultimately refines and strengthens them.

Based on a true story, Boots will leave audiences inspired and in awe of the struggles many men experienced in the military 'back in the day'.

A League of Their Own (2022)

Based on the original 1992 film starring Geena Davis, Madonna and Tom Hanks, A League of Their Own is another sports film, this time the focus is baseball. Taking place during World War II, the story follows two sisters who have joined the first all female professional baseball league.

Everything from the music, hair, cars and costumes will transport you back to the 1940s and have you fighting for women's rights right alongside these loveable characters.

Red, White and Royal Blue (2023)

Typically coming-of-age content, particularly those that focus on LGBTQ themes, comes across quite serious, emotional and raw. But Red, White and Royal Blue is as satirical as this style of content gets!

When two sons from very different political and cultural backgrounds, one the American President's son, the other a British Prince, begin a heated rivalry, they are forced together to mend fences but end up building something else entirely between them.
