The Fantastic Four: First Steps lands on Disney Plus next month

Marvel’s First Family have finished up their run in theatres and will be heading to home-viewing when The Fantastic Four: First Steps lands on Disney Plus on Friday, November 5.

Marvel’s biggest film of 2025 didn’t garner quite as much critical praise as its DC competition Superman but it is by all accounts a step-up for directionless post-Endgame MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) and by far the most entertaining cinematic outing for The Fantastic Four. Which makes it a perfect fit for streaming.

As a Marvel movie, The Fantastic Four: First Steps is destined to be a Disney Plus streaming exclusive. It is available as a premium rental via digital storefronts like Apple TV for the eye-watering price of $24.99, and will eventually be available to purchase digitally but when it comes to streaming on-demand, Disney Plus will be your only option when it arrives November 5.

What is Fantastic Four: First Steps about?

The movie's title actually gives away a lot more than you think. The Fantastic Four: First Steps is Marvel's First Family's introduction to the MCU. It's also a nod to the team's astronautical origin story and the arrival of baby Franklin. 

First Steps picks up well into the Fantastic Four's superhero career in their universe. There are comic books and TV shows about their escapades. They're on lunchboxes. They're a big deal. But in their rather quaint retrofuturistic universe, a period of peace is shattered with two unexpected guests, big and small. Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal) and Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby) are expecting, and the Silver Surfer (Julia Garner) has heralded the arrival of the planet-devouring cosmic entity Galactus (Ralph Ineson).

The Fantastic Four: First Steps will tie in to future Marvel films but being set in an entirely different universe makes it fairly easy to jump in on without being caught up with the MCU.
