Most sport is seasonal, but not motorsport. If you're revving to watch F1 (or "Formula One" for its formal name), the season typically kicks off in February and races through to December each year. While the time differences aren't always favourable, short of a round being called off, every month has F1 races to watch live in Australia. Or you can just check out a replay or the highlights if your need-for-speed odometer doesn't extend to the wee hours of the morning.
How to watch the F1 in Australia
So, you want to know where to watch F1 in Australia. Ones answer is you're going to need a Fox Sports subscription. On that track, you've got options.
Fox Sports is streamable with a Foxtel set-top box (with at least the Sport add-on), via Foxtel Now (with at least the Sports + Movies add-on), or with a Kayo Sports subscription. To watch F1 with a Foxtel Now subscription, it'll cost at least $84 per month for up to two full HD streams while Foxtel Now Ultimate costs $104 per month. Foxtel's Sports Package prices can be compared above.
The priciest way to watch F1 in Australia is with a Foxtel IQ set-top box. To watch F1, the cheapest bundle is Foxtel Sport, which costs $60 per month with a 12-month contract or $108 per month without it. Alternatively, Foxtel Sport + Movies is $75 with a 12-month contract or $133 without it, or you can get every Foxtel channel with Foxtel Platinum Plus. That's the priciest Foxtel package, though: $90 per month with a 12-month contract or $150 per month contract-free.
Alternatively, Kayo Sports is the cheapest, at either $29.99 per month for one HD stream with Kayo Standard or $45.99 for two up-to-4K streams with Kayo Premium.
What is Kayo Sports?
Kayo Sports is a standalone version of the Sports add-on for Foxtel Now. With a Kayo Sport subscription, you'll get access to the greatest number of sports in Australia, including AFL, NRL, cricket, tennis, and American sports like NFL, basketball, and baseball. The big disclaimer is that DAZN is now the owner of Foxtel, so it's anticipated that Kayo content will eventually shift to DAZN.
Kayo has two plans: Standard and Premium. Kayo Standard offers HD streaming on one device for $29.99 per month while Kayo Premium offers 4K streaming on two devices for $45.99 per month.

The most straightforward way to watch F1 in Australia for free is via 10 Play. That said, the free-to-air streaming service will only broadcast the Formula 1 Qatar Airways Australian Grand Prix 2026. Alternatively, use a virtual private network (VPN) and connect to an Austrian server to stream F1 for free via ServusTV or ORF. You can also do the same thing with RTBF by connecting to a Belgian VPN server to stream F1 for free from Australia.
What is the F1?
Formula One (F1) is the highest possible class for FIA-sanctioned motorsport racing in the world. Enthusiasts consider it the pinnacle of motorsports, and it's been racing since 1950. Each F1 season consists of different Grand Prix racing events at different tracks around the world.
A point system is used to declare World Championship winners for drivers and teams (aka constructors). Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton are the most successful drivers, to date, with seven titles apiece. Ferrari is the most prolific winner with 16 World Championships.

Compare sport streaming services
Kayo is still the best sports streaming service in Australia if you're after a quantity of popular sports. While the price keeps creeping up, Kayo is the only place to watch the vast majority of AFL, NRL, and cricket matches in Australia.
It's improved since launch, offering a mix of live channels – including dedicated options for popular sports – individually highlighted live matches and replays. For popular sports, the replays are typically available as full matches or shorter 'Minis' (highlights packages). If you miss a live match that you're keen to experience fresh, Kayo has a no-spoilers toggle that's well worth enabling. Alternatively, skip to key match moments on longer replays.
Most Kayo content is streamed at Full HD resolution, but more 4K content is appearing for Kayo Premium subscribers, most notably for AFL and NRL matches. Like Netflix and other entertainment streaming services, Kayo also offers user profiles, which help personalise the sports you're being fed on the homepage. And if you've got a compatible device, Kayo also offers SplitView so you can stream multiple sports at the same time on the one screen.
