If you're looking for great coverage, high-value plans, and flexible, contract-free service, amaysim's simple SIM-only options are worth a look. The telco offers prepaid, month-to-month service on Optus' 4G Plus and 3G networks, with its Unlimited plans including unlimited national talk and text (and great data inclusions).
Don't have a working phone, or planning to upgrade your current handset? amaysim’s plans are SIM-only and prepaid, but you can still pick up a brand new device from the company’s web store. Phones are available to new and current customers, and include high-end and budget-friendly devices.
Unlimited amaysim plans start from $10 per recharge for unlimited talk and text, and 1GB of data. Depending on your choice of plan, you can also get included unlimited standard international calling to 10 selected countries, plus 300 additional minutes to a further 22 destinations.
All of amaysim's Unlimited SIM-only plans come with a 28-day expiry period, and up to 14GB of data per recharge (available on the $50 plan).
Infrequent or light mobile user? amaysim also offers a basic pay-as-you go option. Starter credit is priced at $10, and comes with a 365-day expiry; standard talk is priced at $0.15 per minute, data at $0.1504 per megabyte, and texts at $0.15 per SMS and $0.49 per MMS.
Customers can add a data plan to amaysim's as-you-go service, with packs available from $10 for 1GB to use over 28 days. International talk and text is also possible on a pay-as-you-go plan: you'll pay from $0.06 per minute for standard international calls (depending on the country called), plus $0.25 per standard MMS and $0.75 per MMS to included countries.
Good news: if you’re ready to move to amaysim, it’s easy to make the switch (and keep your number!) Once you’ve picked out the perfect SIM plan, you can either order online or buy a SIM in store from retailers including Coles, Woolworths, 7-Eleven and Australia Post.
If you’re buying online, you’ll need an unlocked phone or tablet, a valid Australian address and email address, a valid debit or credit card, and a valid form of identification (such as a passport or Australian driver’s licence).
If you’ve bought your SIM in store, you’ll need to hit up amaysim’s website here to activate it. You’ll also be able to pick your desired amaysim plan during activation.
If you’re planning to keep your number, don’t cancel your current service before activating your amaysim SIM. You’ll be able to transfer your number to your new amaysim account, but only if it’s still active when you make the switch; during the sign up process, you’ll need to select the 'retain/ transfer your number' option, then follow any subsequent prompts.
More info on switching plans but keeping your number is available in the below video.
If you’ve bought an amaysim SIM, you can activate your prepaid plan by heading to the telco’s online activation page. You’ll need to enter your personal and activation details, plus select your preferred prepaid plan.
Activations can take up to four hours to complete, although most customers should be up and running straight away. If you’re transferring your number, you may need to wait longer, as this can take up to three working days to process.
You can set up automatic recharges for your amaysim plan, provided you have a valid debit/ credit card or PayPal account. Customers can add auto recharge themselves through the Payment Method option at My amaysim.
You’re also able to recharge via a voucher, which can be bought at thousands of Australian stores (such as Coles, Woolworths, Australia Post or 7-Eleven). Vouchers are available for $10, $20, $30, $40, $50 or $100, and once you’ve picked one up, simply text the 10-digit voucher number to 568, or go to My amaysim and click Redeem Voucher. Easy!
