Will the latest UBank commercial spin positively or negatively for the brand after treading on a taboo subject in advertising…making light of disasters for commercial gain.
On paper, it would have seemed like a great commercial with a strong premise…’if you had your time again, which bank would you choose?’.
Yet to execute this concept, they’ve depicted a aeroplane experiencing difficulty mid air which is just something a little un-nerving for anyone who flies. Personally, I was too focussed on thinking about life insurance before my next holiday and living a better life than I was thinking about banks.
Interestingly, the wolves at the end of the ad are to depict the other big banks, ravaging us with fees and mistreatment. I expected there to be three wolves, as UBank is banked by NAB so there would not be four wolves, leaving the CBA, ANZ and Westpac.
Yet, there were only two wolves? Who do UBank and NAB have a soft spot for and did not think to be worthy of depiction as a wolf?
