Here’s some hot deals for the budget conscious. Right now there are three exceptionally well priced smartphones in the market that would suit someone who is price conscious and looking for a good deal.
We’ve done a bit of dusting through the deals to find three that we’d happily vouch for and recommend to our friends and family. Typically, lower price handsets mean compromises of some sort, but these three still offer an amazing experience for a low price. Here they are:
Galaxy S2 for $29 / Month
Yes, you can get the Galaxy S2 for just $29 / Month which is just $696 total cost of ownership across 24 months for the plan and the phone (as at time of writing). This phone is an impressive device for just $29 per month and would fulfil most people’s smartphone needs.
Here’s what Alex said about this phone when he reviewed it last year…
We know that everyone has different tastes and that not every customer is looking for the same experience in a smartphone. As such we try not to get too excited about individual devices here at WhistleOut; just because we love a device doesn’t mean everyone else will. But in the case of the Galaxy S 2 we would definitely have to wholly recommend it.
Here’s the current deals on the Galaxy S2 including the $29 plan price points.
Nokia Lumia 800 for $29 / Month
The Nokia Lumia 800 is beautiful. iPhone users will pick this phone up and be impressed. The user interface is more similar to the intuitive interface of an iPhone in comparison to the Android experience.
The physical build of the device is beautiful and the mapping function is great. The major detraction with this phone is that there will be a new version of the Windows Phone operating system (the is the Operating System which runs this phone) so then Lumia 800 will be becoming an ‘old model’ very soon and won’t be upgradeable to the new version.
Yet, for many people that is already too technical and these software cycles are of less concern to price savvy shoppers than they are to the technorati. If you’re looking for a budget deal, this phone will put a smile on your face for the price that you pay.
Here’s what Alex had to say about the phone when he reviewed it…
Overall we’d have to say that we were impressed with the Nokia Lumia 800. Not only do we think it was a victory for Nokia, but we’re also impressed with how far the Windows Phone OS has come during its short lifespan.

iPhone 4S with 2GB Data for Under $50
The iPhone 4S has been the most popular phone on WhistleOut all year and offers a stellar user experience, brilliant camera and a massive App store to suit your every desire. The only problem that we’ve seen with the iPhone 4S has been the price. Carriers started competitively when the phone was launched, but this turned around after 3 months and it was hard to find any killer price points on the iPhone 4S. Until now…
Virgin Mobile now have a plan (limited time, and announced just this week) that is under $50 per month and gives you 2.3GB of data per month for $48 per month.
With the iPhone 4S able to tether (so that you can use the phone as a modem with your laptop or iPad) and with great connectivity on 3G HSDPA, you can really put that 2.3GB to good use.
This is the standout deal under $50 per month for the iPhone 4S. If you’ve been sitting on the fence for 12 months, now might be the time to pounce.
Here’s what Alex had to say about the phone when he reviewed it last year…
While we, like a lot of other folk, would have liked to see a fancy new iPhone 5 this year, the iPhone 4S is still a worthy successor to the iPhone 4. Even though the UI is hardly unique, due to the fact that iOS 5 is available to everyone with a previous iPhone, the speed improvement and camera on the iPhone 4S are fantastic.
