TomTom, the ever-popular navigation system, will be delivering a new Android app to Android users come October. Even better, the new service will reportedly be seeing a preview at IFA 2012 this week in Berlin.
The App will come standard with Intelligent Route Planning, Lane Guidance and Lifetime Maps, to name a few perks. Even better, HD Traffic and Speed Camera locations can be snatched up as in-app purchases.
It’s interesting to think how just a few short years ago one might spend upwards of a few hundred dollars on an independent TomTom navigation system for their car. Now-a-days most premium smartphones come with built-in turn-by-turn navigation and yet TomTom still seems willing to move with the times. TomTom is hardly a standard-fare turn-by-turn that you may find on your phone out-of-the-box, but many folk still find it preferable to standard smartphone navigation options.
Pricing is, as yet, undetermined. Hopefully TomTom will be able to continue its tradition as a premium navigation system at a price-point that is competitive with today’s modern smart-device market.
