The Motorola Xoom 2 is on its way to Australia and from what we hear it’s destined to hit Telstra first. The Xoom 2 is the successor to the disappointingly unsuccessful Motorola Xoom, a tablet that failed to generate public appeal despite being the first big Android Honeycomb release.
Hopefully Motorola has learned from past mistakes and the Motorola Xoom 2 will function as, or better than, expected. Specs-wise the Xoom 2 passes muster:
- 10.1 inch display
- 32GB internal storage
- Dual-core 1.2GHz processor
- 1GB of RAM
- Android Honeycomb 3.2
- A thinner profile than the original Xoom
It is a bit disappointing that the Xoom 2 will ship with Android Honeycomb 3.2 out of the box, rather than Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS). Motorola has assured folks that an update to ICS will be coming in the very near future, however with Android updates it’s always difficult to tell exactly how soon that means.
