"At first glance you'll immediately see elements of HTC's latest phones: the Desire, Nexus One and HD mini rolled into one tight little package. The combination of brushed aluminium and soft-touch rubber house with a 3.2-inch touchscreen is one of the sturdiest and sexiest bodies you'll find on any phone in this price range. The Wildfire is just about the perfect size for people who use their phones mostly for calling, with its curved base fitting snugly in the palm. The touchscreen is good too, making use of a capacitive touch panel and being extremely responsive." 8.5/10

"With the same Swype on-screen keyboard found on the Samsung Galaxy S and a caller ID that connects directly to Facebook updates, the HTC Wildfire certainly looks more desirable than other handsets on the market today. "

"Apart from its low-resolution screen, nothing about it seems particularly cheap. It looks good, it's responsive and it offers some great social-networking features." 4/5 Stars

"The touchscreen, too, is not as sharp as that on the Desire or Legend. You need to tap that bit harder to register your swipes and strokes, but the keyboard is still top notch" 4/5 Stars

"The 5-megapixel camera on the Wildfire comes with some nifty photo effect options; not only can you easily adjust settings like brightness, contrast and sharpness using touchscreen dials, but you also benefit from filter effects like negative, polarise and sepia effects." 4/5 Stars

"Seeing status updates on top of the quick contacts bar, as well as Facebook piccies, makes the HTC Wildfire a super convenient messaging phone which requires the minimum of set up, and Android 2.1 means technophobes won’t run up against any walls when they try to add two Gmail accounts or use Google Maps Navigation." 4/5 Stars

"The biggest drawback in terms of speed we found in the browser - scrolling full pages there is a pain. They load quickly and render properly, but when you start scrolling heavy pages, the browser skips beats, and takes you to the end in choppy slow-mo stages."
