Telstra will be releasing yet another Android powered phone in December, with the Motorola DEFY to be available on the Telstra $49 Cap plan with the recently increased data allowance of 1GB per month.
This phone is a 3.7 inch multitouch touchscreen device which is water resistant, but don't throw it in the pool (read the refined comments from Telstra about the amount of water you can encounter with the phone below). However it is the first Android phone to get the Blue Tick for regional areas, joining the iPhone 4 as one of the smart phones approved by Telstra for regional areas on the Next G network.
Telstra posted the announcement on their Exchange blog with the following comments...
But unlike other smarpthones, Motorola DEFY is water and dust resistant protecting you from life’s little challenges like a splash from the pool, a drop from your pocket when you’re bike riding or a trip to the beach.
DEFY is also our first Android smartphone to earn a Telstra BlueTick. That’s great news for people who visit or live in regional Australia because it means there’s now an Android smartphone option that will provide superior handheld coverage in rural coverage areas.
The DEFY is not just for consumers who have an active lifestyle or for regional Australians interested in an Android smartphone. We see huge appetite amongst small business customers for this type of device – particularly those working in the field.
Imagine having a touchscreen mobile you can actually chuck into a tool box or the cab of a Ute? Tradies will love it.
