"The touch sensitive buttons are kept in mind for the complete watertight shell which could give-in if the buttons were physical. The display is multi-touch and can be operated by four fingers simultaneously giving you more freedom while gaming on the phone. The display uses the Sony Mobile Bravia Engine for better quality and crisp details. Hence, even though the display has a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels, the pixels are not easily seen unless inspected minutely.

"The 5-megapixel camera focuses quickly and has a fast electronic shutter, too. The images captured turned out pretty good, with plenty of detail and minimal noise. Next to the textured rear, the camera is the best feature. There is no front-facing camera though" 4/5 Stars

"It's so easy to use, I don't have to look at the manual once, and anything I could possibly want a phone to do is at the tips of my fingers. I don't think I'll ever get used to the annoying vibrations attached to the keyboard and home buttons that android is so hot on, but it's a small price to pay for a phone that does what it says on the tin. "Unfortunately the screen can't respond to touch input while under water, so underwater snaps are not easy. But as soon as it's out you can carry on like normal. The screen also responded randomly when we dripped water on it so you’ll still need to shield it from the rain if you want to keep using it." 3.5/5 Stars

"Whether it's internal video you've shot on the camera or streamed from something like BBC iPlayer, things never look very sharp. But the important thing is that they play without issue as this phone does have some power. You also have the ability to "play to" a different device, if you have compatible hardware." 3.5/5 Stars

"Despite being a largely plastic affair, the Sony Xperia Go, which features a polycarbonate back, is strong and sturdy in the hand, with the 110g design proving comfortable without being unnervingly light, while also producing no unwanted flex, bending or worrying creeks when put under large amounts of pressure. "In terms of performance, we found Xperia Go to be a fairly fast phone. The device handled web browsing, video playback, casual gaming and multitasking with ease. There was no lag in UI and animations were smooth. We also found the call quality to be good. The 5 megapixels camera turned out to be average. The phone clicked pictures that had good colours but lacked details. "

"We got a few days with the Xperia Go, enabling us to see just how much juice this handset can store. Overall we found the battery performed fairly average, and after a day's moderate usage, it did need a charge overnight.

"The Sony Xperia go is a fine device for voice calls. Unfortunately, the earpiece is a bit weak, so you may have a bit of a trouble hearing your callers if you happen to be in a noisy place, but overall the sound is pleasing. " 3.5/5 Stars

"Topping off the screen is a layer of scratch-proof glass, but this is the norm for mid-range Android phones these days. The smaller screen may make it slightly less shatter-prone than larger smartphones, but don't go thinking the Xperia Go is invincible. It also isn't operable in very heavy rain or while underwater, either. The phone uses a capacitive screen, which goes haywire when wet.

"The rugged Sony Xperia Go is happy to be exposed to the elements but, in other areas, its performance is underwhelming. You're asked to accept compromises for an Android device you can dunk in the river. That might be a trade-off you're happy to make, but if you're not outdoorsy, there are better, slicker all-rounders out there." 3/5 Stars

"The Go runs using Google's now archaic Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, overlaid with Sony's custom user interface. Considering Google has released its Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system we're really unimpressed that Sony is still rolling out handsets with version 2.3." 3/5 Stars
