Where can you use TransACT Mobile Broadband?
Mobile broadband services are available in Australia via the Vodafone 3G mobile phone network. 3G coverage is available in the metro areas of Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Once outside the 3G network you can still access the internet via 2.5G network although this is considerably slower. Make sure you check coverage in your area before signing up.
Your Download Speed
Your download speed is affected by where your location and the coverage of the network in that location. There are three connection speeds:
- Fastest: HSDPA Mobile which can operate at up to 3.6Mbps (with typical speeds quoted by Vodafone in the 600Kbps to 1.4Mps range).
- Slower: 3G which usually operates up to 384kbps download speed.
- Slow: GPRS which operates at 50kbps when you are outside metropolitan areas.
Your Downloads and Uploads
The data that you download and upload by viewing websites (inlcuding email) is counted in your monthly allowance. Additional data usage is charged at 15c per MB and counted in 10KB increments.
Mobility
Use your internet connection whilst on the move - you can even use it whilst on the train or on the bus!
International Roaming
You can use your Internet Stick in over 70 countries for a flat rate of 4c per KB at 10KB increments (which is around $40 per MB).
